Hand built and tested in Cheshire, Starley is a new bike brand to hit the UK and I am one of a handful of athletes lucky enough to own one of their first bikes to come to market. With an official launch planned for early in the New Year, I have a chance to test-ride this amazing bit of kit on some of the most challenging roads in Yorkshire.
John Starley and his nephew James are probably two of the most influential inventors very rarely heard of. John is known as the ‘Father of the Bicycle’ and between them, John and James Starley designed and engineered the bicycle as we know it today. These innovative and successful British builders of bikes deserve to have their name proudly wrapped around a new range of high-specked performance bikes for road, off-road and time-trial riding.
Weather permitting, I will out this weekend on my new wheels and will be back soon to report on my findings.
